What is the Users page?

The Users page in the B Series Appliance /appliance web interface lists all users with access to the appliance. It allows administrators to manage user accounts, assign roles and permissions, and configure authentication settings.

How is it useful to my organization?

This page is useful for controlling access to the appliance, ensuring security, and assigning appropriate permissions based on user roles within your organization. It helps manage who can access the appliance and what actions they are authorized to perform.

How do I access the Users page?

  1. Use a Chromium-based browser to sign in to your B Series Appliance. The URL is provided in the BeyondTrust welcome email and includes your site URL followed by /appliance.
  2. From the top menu, click Users.
    The Users page opens and displays by default.

View existing appliance users

  1. Review user details:
    • Username: the unique identifier for a user account in the B Series Appliance /appliance web interface.
    • Display name: the name displayed for the user in the interface, which can be different from the username.
    • Consecutive failed logins: the number of times a user has unsuccessfully attempted to log in.
    • Edit: modify a user's details.
    • Delete: remove a user account from the B Series Appliance web interface.
  2. To find a specific user, enter a string in the search box and click Search. This searches by username and display name. To return to the full list, click Clear.

Create a new appliance user

  1. Click Create new user.
    The User :: Add page opens.
  2. Add information for the new user.
    • Username: the unique identifier for a user account in the B Series Appliance web interface.
    • Display name: the name displayed for the user in the interface, which can be different from the username.
    • Password: the authentication used by the user to sign in to the B Series Appliance web interface.
  3. Click Save Changes.
    The Users page opens, with the new user now visible.

Note

You must have at least one user account defined. The B Series Appliance comes with one account predefined, which is the admin account. You can keep just the admin account, create additional accounts, or replace the admin account.
