What is the Remote Desktop Agent?
The Remote Desktop Agent is a software component that facilitates remote desktop access to endpoints, enabling privileged access, management, and control of remote systems. It allows users to connect to and interact with a remote system as though they were physically present at the machine.
How is it useful to my organization?
The Remote Desktop Agent provides secure and reliable remote access, helping organizations support and manage systems without physical presence. It enables troubleshooting, configuration management, and monitoring across remote systems, improving efficiency, reducing downtime, and ensuring business continuity.
Download Remote Desktop Agent
Click Download Remote Desktop Agent installer to download. Install the Remote Desktop Agent on 64-bit Windows servers with Remote Desktop Services to launch and inject credentials in administrator-defined applications.
What is a virtual smart card?
A virtual smart card is software that securely stores, processes, and exchanges data. These cards are commonly used in applications requiring secure identification, authentication, data storage, and transaction processing.
Note
Virtual smart cards are not supported for Arm-based Windows systems.
How is a virtual smart card useful to my organization?
A virtual smart card enhances security by providing a reliable method for authentication, data encryption, and secure storage. It helps your organization safeguard sensitive information, ensure compliance with security protocols, and support secure access to systems and applications.
Download a virtual smart card installer
- In the Virtual Smart Card section, select a Windows Architecture from the drop-down list.
- Click Download Virtual Smart Card Installer.
The installer file downloads to your machine. - Run the installer file.
- Follow the on-screen prompts.
Use a local smart card on a remote system
If you need to use a local smart card on a remote system being supported, you must:
- Install the BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access Virtual Smart Card driver on both the user and endpoint systems.
- Download and distribute (manually or via a software deployment tool) the appropriate Virtual Smart Card Access Console (VSC Access Console Installer) driver to all users within your support center who require remote smart card functionality.
Once the driver is installed, it creates a service (Privileged Remote Access VSC Access Console Service), and you can use the local smart card on the remote system.
What is the Access Console Network Tunneling Service?
The Access Console Network Tunneling Service is a component that enables secure network connections between the access console and remote systems. It facilitates remote support and access by establishing encrypted tunnels for communication, ensuring safe data transmission over potentially unsecured networks.
How is it useful to my organization?
The Access Console Network Tunneling Service enhances security and reliability by providing a secure communication path for remote sessions. It protects sensitive data during support activities, reduces the risk of data breaches, and ensures stable connections even over complex network configurations.
Note
Network Tunnel Jump is an advanced feature and disabled by default. This feature can be activated, at no additional cost, by contacting your BeyondTrust representative.
Protocol Tunnel Jump shortcuts, including Network Tunnel Jump, are enabled only if their Jumpoint is configured for the Protocol Tunnel Jump method on the /login > Jump > Jumpoint page.
If a Privileged Remote Access user needs access to an endpoint through an IP Network Tunnel, then the Access Console Network Tunneling Service must be installed on the user system. The Access Console Network Tunneling Service requires 64-bit Windows Environments. This feature can be installed manually or via a software deployment tool. Once installed, it creates a service: BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access Network Tunnel Endpoint service.
Click Download Access Console Network Tunneling Service Installer if required.
