What are workflows?

A workflow is a complete, start-to-finish task that uses several Password Safe features together to reach a business goal. Feature docs explain one function at a time, like adding a managed account or how to configure a feature. A workflow shows how features such as asset discovery, managed systems, Smart Rules, access policies, requests and approvals, and session monitoring work together to solve a real problem.

Password Safe supports the following workflows. This list is not exhaustive.

Set up automated password rotation	This workflow connects Password Safe's automated password rotation to a Privileged Remote Access (PRA) Vault session. Password Safe manages and rotates the credential, and PRA injects the current credential into the session automatically
Total PASM Plus	This workflow shows to configure Password Safe, Privileged Remote Access, and Identity Security Insights to work together, then trace a single third-party access request end to end.
Dedicated directory accounts	This workflow shows you how to set up automatic password rotation for dedicated directory accounts on Windows servers in Password Safe.
Windows local admin accounts	This workflow shows you how to bring the local administrator account on Windows servers under Password Safe management.
Linux local root accounts	This workflow shows you how to set up automatic password rotation for local root accounts on Linux servers in Password Safe, with auto-approval for SSH sessions.
Linux admin accounts for network devices	This workflow shows you how to add local admin accounts for network devices, such as Cisco switches, to Password Safe management.
Just-in-time access policy	This workflow shows you how to define a just-in-time access policy in Password Safe.
Dedicated directory accounts for Entra ID	This workflow shows you how to create a Managed Account Smart Rule that discovers dedicated Entra ID accounts and brings them under Password Safe management.
Windows Server directory admin	This workflow shows you how to bring Active Directory admin accounts on your Windows servers under Password Safe management.
Directory admin accounts for Linux Servers	This workflow covers Active Directory admin accounts that have privileged access to your Linux servers. You set up automatic password rotation for those accounts and turn on auto-approved SSH sessions, so approved users can connect without waiting for a manual approval.
