Update CloudFormation stack for AI security features
Prerequisites
Before you update the CloudFormation stack, ensure the following requirements are met.
Amazon Web Services access
- You have an existing BeyondTrust Insights AWS connector configured with a deployed CloudFormation stack.
- You have sufficient IAM permissions to update CloudFormation stacks in your AWS Management Account.
- You know the AWS region where your stack is deployed.
- AI agents collection is enabled on your AWS connector in Insights. See Step 3 · Create the CloudFormation Stack to enable this option if it was not selected during initial setup.
Identity Security Insights access
- You have administrator access to Identity Security Insights.
- You have access to the AWS Connector Settings page in Insights, where the updated CloudFormation Template URL is available.

Step 1 · Access CloudFormation console
- Log in to the AWS Management Console.
- Navigate to CloudFormation service.
- Ensure you're in the correct AWS region where your stack is deployed.
Step 2 · Select the stack to update
- From the Stacks list, locate the stack you want to update.
- Select BeyondTrust-Insights-Stack (or the stack that was created by our CloudFormation template).
Step 3 · Initiate stack update
- Select the Update Stack button at the top of the stack details page
- Select Make a direct update
- Choose Replace current template
- Select Amazon S3 URL
- In the Amazon S3 URL field, enter the unique CloudFormation Template URL found in your BeyondTrust AWS Connector Settings page
- Select Next
Step 4 · Review and update parameters
- Review all parameters displayed on the Specify stack details page
- Update any parameter values that need to be updated, otherwise, leave it unchanged
- Select Next
Step 5 · Configure stack options
- On the Configure stack options page
- Scroll to the bottom and check the acknowledgment boxes
- Select Next
- Review Changes
- On the Review page, examine the change:
- If the changes are in the nested stackset, and not on the root CF template, ensure the corresponding StackSet is in the Changes
Step 6 · Run the Update
- Select Submit to start the stack update
