pbless | EPM-UL

Version 4.0.0 and later: pbless setting available.

The pbless pager is similar to the less pager. It has been modified so that it can be used securely with the Endpoint Privilege Management for Unix and Linux programs. Security is enhanced by the following features:

  • pbless must be started with a full path name specified for the file to be read.
  • The user cannot access any files other than the one that is specified at startup time.
  • The user is not allowed to spawn any processes.

This program, when used in conjunction with Endpoint Privilege Management for Unix and Linux, allows users to access a specific file as root but not to access other root functions.
