# Google Chat for Workspace | Insights

## What is the Google Chat for Workspace webhook?

The Google Chat for Workspace webhook sends detections and recommendations from Identity Security Insights directly to a specified Google Chat space.

## How is it useful?

With a configured Google Chat for Workspace webhook, you and others in your organization can view your detections and recommendations, making it easier to collaborate on improvements to your security posture.

## Prerequisites

### BeyondTrust

You must have:

* access to a site with an Insights app
* an Insights account with the Administrator role

### Google Chat for Workspace

You must have:

* an active Google Workspace administrator account
* [Space Manager access to a dedicated space in Google Chat for Workspace](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/11833441?hl=en\&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop\&sjid=12304981396477691864-NA#)
* a [registered Google Chat webhook for Insights](https://developers.google.com/workspace/chat/quickstart/webhooks#register-webhook)

## Configure Google Chat for Workspace webhook

1. Ensure you have:
   * an active Google Workspace administrator account
   * [Space Manager access to a dedicated space in Google Chat for Workspace](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/11833441?hl=en\&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop\&sjid=12304981396477691864-NA#)

2. In Google Chat, [create the webhook](https://developers.google.com/workspace/chat/quickstart/webhooks#register-webhook).

   > ℹ️
   >
   > We recommend you enter a human-readable webhook name (for example, **BeyondTrust Identity Security Insights).**

3. Copy the Google Chat webhook URL.

4. In Insights, select ![Pathfinder navigation menu](https://files.readme.io/dc5ec6ab65e7970de9db2b13707e2dd57a4617f070203d9609de96d5b09f935e-menu-icon.png) **> Insights > Integrations**.\
   The **Integrations** page displays.

5. Click **Webhooks**.\
   The **Summary** page displays.

6. Click **Create Integration**.\
   The **Create** page displays.

7. Enter the following information:

   * **Webhook Name:** a human-readable name (for example, *Google Chat*)
   * **Webhook URL:** the URL you copied above from the **Incoming webhooks** page in Google Chat for Workspace.
   * **Authorization Type:** leave unselected
   * **Webhook template:** Copy and paste the following template:

     ```

8. Optionally, add additional variables as listed in Insights to the template.
9. Select **Send detections automatically**.
10. Click **Save Integration**.\
    The Google Chat for Workspace webhook is configured.

## Test the Google Chat for Workspace webhook

1. In Insights, select ![Pathfinder navigation menu](https://files.readme.io/dc5ec6ab65e7970de9db2b13707e2dd57a4617f070203d9609de96d5b09f935e-menu-icon.png) **> Insights > Integrations**.\
   The **Integrations** page displays.
2. Click **Webhooks**.\
   The **Summary** page displays.
3. Locate your webhook from the list and click it.\
   The webhook **Configuration** page displays.
4. At the bottom of the page, click **Test Connection**.\
   A confirmation message displays.
   * If the test is successful, you can view the generated message in your dedicated Google Chat space.
   * If the test is unsuccessful, there was an error while attempting to send a request to the configured webhook destination. Review all entries to ensure they are correct both in Insights and in Google Chat for Workspace, then retry the test.
